On this page, we’ve compiled a list of the questions that families often ask about our services at Little Hands at Play. If you have a question that isn’t answered here, give us a call at (479) 226-3409 and a member of our team will be happy to help you.
The first step is to call our office at (479) 226-3409 and schedule a pediatric therapy evaluation. This is where one of our therapists will get more information from you about your child’s medical history and any struggles they’re having. They will also work with your child to evaluate their developmental skills with simple assessments. Once the evaluation is complete, the therapist will recommend a treatment plan based on your child’s needs and work with you to determine the best schedule for your family.
Yes, we need a referral from your child’s pediatrician to ensure we give them the best possible treatment plan for their needs. If you would like our help obtaining a referral for your child, give us a call at (479) 226-3409 and our team will be happy to assist you with that by reaching out to the pediatrician directly.
Generally, if your child struggles with movement, speech, eating, or daily activities, they very likely could benefit from pediatric therapy. You can take a look at our developmental milestones for children aged 0-5 to get a better idea of what skills your child should have for their age. If you’re still uncertain if pediatric therapy is the right choice for your child, you can always ask their pediatrician or reach out to us directly for an evaluation.
The great thing about pediatric therapy is that it works for children of any age—and the sooner your child starts treatment, the easier it will be for them to achieve their developmental milestones. We work with children as young as newborns for physical, occupational, communication, and feeding concerns.
It’s never too late to give your child the support they need to reach their developmental milestones and lead a happier, more independent life. Our team of expert therapists work with children from birth up to 21 years of age to give every child in our community the skills they need for success.
Every insurance provider is different and provides different levels of coverage. Our billing office researches and works with all the insurance providers in our area to facilitate them providing the best coverage that they can offer for the services we provide. If you have questions about what your specific insurance plan will cover, you can check with your insurance provider or call our office.
When you begin therapy at our clinic, our billing team will submit the claims forms to your insurance provider on your behalf.
Most of the children we treat visit our clinic one to two times per week on average. Our therapists will work with you to determine the specific treatment schedule that will be the best for your child’s needs.
We definitely encourage family involvement in treatment. Not only does this make it easier for the therapist to communicate about your child’s needs, update you on their progress, and answer any questions you might have, but the therapist can also show you how to help and support your child at home during their treatment and provide resources to support you, as well.
Your child’s therapy sessions will last generally between 30 and 60 minutes per session, depending on what skills the therapist is working on with them and how much support your child needs.
Your child’s treatment time will depend on their unique circumstances. While pediatric therapy is a fantastic solution, it’s not always a fast one. It takes time to see results. Our treatment plans are created to cover the goals we want to help your child achieve over a one-year period. We ask for your partnership for one year to help your child gain the vital developmental and life skills they need for their overall health and happiness. When the first treatment plan is finished, we will reevaluate to see how much progress your child has made and if another plan is necessary.
If you have any questions or concerns about your child’s treatment, their progress, or any other aspect of their therapy, our team is always here for you. The first step would be to ask your child’s therapist directly, as often they can answer any questions you have. If you need to speak with someone else, you can reach out to our Clinic Director at any time. Our owners, Jennifer and Jeremy Schalski, are also at the clinic almost every day and will be happy to help you, simply reach out to the Clinic Director to schedule a meeting.
